Who are you?
A deep question to start off with. or maybe not, let me introduce myself. I am Matt, I live in Norfolk in the UK, I am a Dad to two not so small humans, J (12) and T (11), step dad to three definitely not small humans (in their 20’s), owner of one furry Lucher – Margo. I am a Christian, I’m married to a supportive, fabulous, and big-hearted wife, EBI, and I like cooking and eating food.
Around 6 years ago I got divorced, and my children live with their mum, my ex-wife. Consequently, I only see them at weekends, in a pre-arranged pattern, which works out to be 2 full weekends and 1 Sunday each month. 3 years ago I re-married (that’s a post for another time – a divorced Christian re-marrying), but before then I was trying, and mostly thinking that I was failing, to parent them as a single dad who didn’t see his kids full time. That obviously comes with it’s ups and downs, and as we journey together on this site, I’ll talk through some of what I have been through, and what I have learnt through that time. I don’t speak as an expert, but someone who has lived it, and got much of it wrong, and who has had to rebuild my own sense of self and self-confidence.
What I have also realised is that I dislike having my picture taken, and very rarely have a sensible one of myself!
You might be wondering why a blog? Simply, I wanted to just document my journey and my thoughts, and in doing so, hopefully provide some help for dads out there like me who are just trying to do their level best, whether they are single dads, dads who see their kids all the time, dads who co-parent, or who struggle to do so.
